Outdoor Living | This Carport Doubles As A Cozy Dining Area!

See how designer Philippe Beauparlant added a multipurpose carport — which doubles as a dining area and parking garage — to maximize function on his narrow lot. String lights and speakers make the area ideal for entertaining when the carport isn’t in use. A table and chairs are hidden behind Jackson Pollock-inspired sliding doors, and can easily be brought out to create a dining area. Heaters and ceiling fans mean this double-duty carport is perfect for all-season entertaining.

was waiting for the robot-garage floor to open up and reveal the car underneath. Tastefull design, except for the fake grass, but we can't force things to grow now can we?

Inspiring video. In Indonesia we always dig the soil deeper to plant everything, not only vegetation but mostly plant deep foundation with concrete or red bricks or river stones, we can't "just" lay everything on the surfaces. It's also too much risk to use wood as base construction.

You could have killed the raccoons with a pellet gun at night.

Carrying all the food and utensils that far looks like a pita. And then reverse it for clean up. And then doing it during a rain storm. Yuck 🤢

Hmm this is common in Asia, my country Malaysia. Thanks for showing us how to make it a modern version for our open carpark area.

This is how you take a perfect carport which can be used every day and change it to something you will use once a month. The inside dining area was good, but let’s destroy a useful space and make her happy. Let her spend money and become more creative again and again.

Next we will see how all of the storage space can be transformed into living area.

Then we will now tackle the problem of no storage space, looks like we need a bigger house, because this one does not have enough storage area.

And the cycle starts all over again.

This is not a mans idea, so please don’t act like it is. A man has a carport for the car, perfect. And closets to store things. Perfect. And if they need more space, then take unwanted items to goodwill or the dump.

It nice design, but somehow. if it design on New Jersey like my backyard this is going to be disaster in the fall and winter with heavy rain and snow. This will just ruin everything. Maybe if it in Florida this will work.

  30. December 12, 2018 at 6:27 pm

    Gorgeous

  31. December 12, 2018 at 6:27 pm

I was always indifferent to having a carport.  It didn't matter–until now.  Damn I wish I had a carport!

  32. December 12, 2018 at 6:27 pm

Awesome use of space, and making space work double duty is the way to live well.

What a terrific use of space very clever!!!! So cozy and easy to maintain.

  39. December 12, 2018 at 6:27 pm

Love the idea and love how it looks. Don't worry about the astroturf; pick your battles — and the raccoons were winning. Easier on your feet than cobblestones.
