Michael Scott’s Table

It’s either pine, or Nordic Cherry.

This originally was going to be my April Fools video. A quick 30-second build of the side table that Michael Scott made that appeared in the “Dinner Party” episode of The Office. But then I started looking at it, analyzing it a little bit. Maybe Michael Scott was onto something but just didn’t have the right tools & techniques to fully realize what he was envisioning. So I set to work to see if I could come up with my interpretation of what I think he may have been going for.

Nordic Cherry is not a real type of lumber unfortunately, so I started with some really nice Black Cherry for the legs. The cross members were made from yellow pine (so it’s both pine AND “Nordic” cherry). Moreso for the aesthetics, I married the pieces together with some cherry dowels to simulate the look of the nails of the original table.

STATE OF THE CHANNEL: I’m in the home stretch of a lot of big life events. I’ve been on somewhat of a hiatus, leading up to the purchase of a house in Texas! I’ll be moving across the country in June, so I’ll have just about a month to make some more projects. Stick with me, there will be some great projects coming up once I get settled into my new space, but until then I have some smaller trinket things that I will be showcasing to remain at least a little bit active here on YouTube! Thank you for all the support!!

You could turn this into the woodworking version of Binging with Babish

Can you do Homer Simpson's Spice Rack next? 🙂 http://i.imgur.com/tSgpk73.jpg

I like how you kept the superior structural integrity as part of the design.

It is so satisfying watching you make wooden products. I like how you don't have to say anything when you make things. It is like a nice surprise present when I get to see the final product that you made.

This is just like binging with babish but with wood instead of food. Great idea!

    Welcome to Texas!!

I like the simplicity of the table. I may need to borrow your design to create an end table for my wife's reading nook. Awesome work as always.

Your version was cool but I would’ve been totally ok with the first part being the whole video. ???

    Beautiful wine stain

For your wine part, you could have also used the clip of Michael dipping his steak in his wine in the same episode. Either way this was clever and turned out awesome.
