Danish Design Review Rising Stars | Parsons The New School For Design

Danish Design Review Paola Antonelli | Parsons The New School For Design
From 2009-2013, Denmark is engaged in a grad-scale design project at the UN, highlighting one of the great icons of Danish design history, Finn Juhl, as well as contemporary Danish designers. The Trusteeship Council Chamber was originally designed by Finn Juhl in 1952, it has since been one of the most frequently used spaces at the UN. In 2008, the UN asked Denmark for support to restore the chamber in accordance with Finn Juhl’s original vision and complete a refurbishment with new Danish design furniture fitting Finn Juhl’s original Decor.

On Occasion of this respiration, refurbishment and Finn Juhl’s Centennial taking place this year, the Consulate General of Denmark in New York has launched the design effort “Living the Legacy – Designing the Future,” highlighting both the heritage and the contemporary designers inspired by it. Danish Design Review New York is part of this initiative. 8 young designers have been selected to participate in the symposium and exhibition at Parsons The New School for Design.
