Christmas Gnomes made easy with dollar tree socks

NEW UPDATE – CHECK OUT PART 2 GOES IN DETAIL FOR ALTERNATIVE BEARD OPTIONS πŸ™‚

ALSO – if love gnomes like I do…check out the gnome wreath option:

Simple gnomes made with socks and rice. SUPPLY LIST BELOW 😊 Most items bought a dollar tree. To make his nose rosy put some blush on it.

UPDATED: If your worried about bugs in the rice, wheat or beans, throw the grains in the freezer for up to 30 days (30 to 60 days is ideal) and any bugs or bug eggs are supposed to be killed by the cold. We use a similar idea to store grains for long term storage and were told this was the best way to keep flour, rice and other items from getting those pesky flour beetles in them.

I have investigated the pros and cons in using food items to weight down crafts – please read the above concerning rice filling. You can switch to kitty litter which before anyone comments its not safe around pregnancy – I have looked into that also. It is the dirty used kitty litter that is unsafe. It is cautioned not to change the litter…clean litter in a sock does not contain the toxins described in the detailed caution about pregnancy and litter.

Thank you for enjoying my first tutorial…will share another one soon πŸ™‚

Just FYI…if you have a lot of "strings" from your hot glue…hit it with a hot blow dryer! They shrink up and disappear. This works on most anything you use hot glue on!

What fun! I've accumulated way too many gnome patterns and this one is the winner! In very little time, I created a passable gnome and can't wait to get more creative. My crafty area is a mess of Styrofoam bits and pieces of faux fur…small price to pay for a great idea. Thank you, Jenny.

I fell in love with these just sitting there so I had to watch the video. I’m guessing they are supposed to be Christmas decorations but I have a Gnome β€œgarden” I’m starting and I’ll be making mine with rocks to weigh them down. Maybe a few other changes to weather-proof them. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for the video.
