I don’t think you’re Scandinavian enough. That wall has enough decoration already.

Try a “living wall” with plants that ‘hang’ at different levels maybe…

A painting would look nice there, but a tall one rather than wide. If it has to be wide, make sure it’s really wide (like 30×60 in) And then maybe a tall-ish plant by the window?

Scandinavian minimalism as opposed to say German or other Central European would focus more on ‘calm nature’, function and the material wood, we have lots of it.

A clock is good, try danish Arne Jacobsen or a look-a-like. The height you place it on is key, ~2 m. Ikea has nice white without numbers.

If you go for art a good direction is Simon Stålenhag. Although sci-fi it’s a good showcase for Scandinavian style, calm nature, utility, lots of forest. A tall painting highlights your high ceiling = good.

A single light could be nice but centre it over the table, not against the wall. PH light is an example of extremely good ‘functional’ Scandinavian design.

    Only pick one.

In terms of design, two things:

    * Don’t think that just because the ceiling is high that you need something that matches the height. Unless you have a big Rothko-type piece of artwork, stuff on walls are best matched to the size of the humans that will occupy the room.

    * Negative space also carries weight. Don’t think you need to “fill” the wall in other to make it come alive.

I’d consider a largeish print, such as a typographic poster, such as [Playtype](http://playtype.com). Some examples: [1](https://theposterclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/playtype-poster-b.jpg), [2](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xmZVKHEK7e8/Ul0lScXM-mI/AAAAAAAAEOo/PLmpGxarAi0/s1600/folkhem.se.jpg), [3](http://www.nordikliving.nl/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Playtype.jpg). Notice the use of a shelf in the last photo, which can give a sense of horizontal stability to the arrangement, and support something like an ivy, which can hang vertically and give a vertical component to the arrangement, or a lamp.

Also consider something like a lamp that gives that vertical touch. [Like a tall floor lamp](https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T12HNIvMsQw/WMvjvWE_MuI/AAAAAAABB4Q/YnQhQAoOvP0xZvgSU_5dl313SivxLg1OACLcB/s1600/ateliercph_theposterclub2.jpg), or a [swing arm lamp](https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/0b/72/1b/0b721b7cd618969f4ef73b3635053d5a.jpg). You could get an arm lamp [like this](https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/6b/80/63/6b80631d2453112647ea8bc5a2ff7186.jpg) would let you direct the light depending on your needs.

I wouldn’t cover it in blood, due to the “implication”

    ID On the chairs?

to be honest, at least in the photograph, it looks so clean and nice as is.

I’m partial to a clock from boconcept which has large black letters that you can glue to the wall yourself. You can make it as big as you want, basically. I myself have the numbers all messed up only on the side from 1-8 p.m. Looks quite nice. Maybe find something similar?

A couple ideas with crudely googled images for reference:

Some version of waterfall lights – it starts at the ceiling- that ceiling looks really high though so I’m not sure how long they make string lights:

Some really interesting light fixtures, just one will do the trick:

Maybe one zig zag line from floor to ceiling if you like to paint:

Alternatively you could put one small shelf near the table so a book or two can be stored:

Some shelves. You could put things like small plants, photos, books, and other things.

    Or perhaps a mirror?

Over on the left I would design a long hanging piece, kind of yarns with knots dreaded, all lines vertical, maybe 5 or 7. Bright colors, closely related colors, one a bit contrasty but of low value soft. I picture not-primary-colors. (I can’t spell tertiary.)

OK, that is one idea. Please use a material tht can be washed. (maintenance for anything) If you put it in a net bag to wash it would take get tweaked.)

This will brighten in a simple way and lifts the eye, including the wall as a whole. That unites the space.
This kind of thing makes me feel taller and stand taller as it relates me to the height

    – + – + –

After that, living there may lead you to actually want a small pieces – kind of a rogue’s gallery of what you want to be looking at.
This can work with you, on you. This would be an intimate display. For example, maybe a poster of a far away place, or of a piece of art, or friends or family. As I picture this, for inspiration. I am fond of a world map, a window to a favorite city, a drawing of nature.

This low part would not need to stay the same all the time is what I am getting at.

P.S. I like your space very much. It does not “need” more decorations . The color is quiet and gorgeous.

Edits typos take a while (8minutes!) because I don’t see them till I save and reread it in final form.

If you have the time are are artistic enough something [like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/21nv9v/painting_seven_samurai_still_onto_a_wall_with_no/) would look incredible

I have broken up large spaces of nothing with some [rustic wood panels](https://eu.mywoodwall.com/gb/wall-art-inspiration/). I’m not at home for the next week, but I’ll get some pictures when i do go back to show what i mean.

Disclosure: Yes, I work for mww, but i also love it and used it at my own place.
