I would replace the chandelier with something more natural looking with warm lightbulbs, or maybe Edison bulbs. add some plants with natural wood color plant stands. And terra-cotta pots. I think I’d lose that rug for this space, and get a larger in diameter but thinner rug. Maybe Jute material. A nice credenza type piece of furniture along one of the walls would work great. Maybe with plants atop that too! Hope you like my suggestions. I absolutely love a blank slate of a room haha. If you want any tips on what to search for and where let me know. I’m always decorating on a budget.

Maybe some more natural textures. Things like Wool rugs, woven wall hangings and other wood or plant touches are popular “hygge” decor. You might also consider a “warmer” lighting setup with lamps or a different light fixture.

    It’s a blank canvas.
If you are going for hygge, lighting is key and the present light fixture won’t cut it.
Like everyone else says, add more chairs.
The rest is making it your own comfortable space.
I’ve had a bookcase in my dining room. That’s me.
Once you get the rest of the chairs in, if it’s not too squishy, I’d add a small low cabinet (I’d store board games and wine glasses etc.)
I’d add a nice piece of art, some candles, and call it a day.

Remove chandelier and doors. Round table with chairs at the height of the top. Single large white opaque bulb hanging in centre of table

Books, a tea cup station, bits and pieces that show that you use the space and items that bring comfort. Items that welcome you to the room, and that guests can also access for comfort.

A nice muted colour rug, a wooden kitchen sofa, lots of plants and two or three paintings on the wall. A nice standing lamp in one corner perhaps. 🙂 love the table and chair already, feels very Scandinavian and homey to mee.

Except for the light the base is not bade. Indeed add some more seats at least a total of 4. I would paint one of the walls either a light blue/gray or light olive green. Your rug is nice. I would add a standing light made of light wood and I would add big nature picture on the walls. Maybe if you have the space a nice library out of light wood with lots of books. Good luck

I can help you with some ideas, but I need more information about this space. Maybe you have a plan and more photos?

Wainscoting, base, chair rail, picture or plate rail, crown moulding. Rug, designer chair in corner, small buffet opposite table, French doors, royal colors, commissioned oil painting of you on a mountain looking down on the world.

Put a Danish flag on the wall, get the other 3 IKEA chairs missing from the photo, maybe put some oatmeal on the floor and steal some IKEA bags to use as placemats.
